My Fave Christmas Present!

I am a very visual person and I love to be surrounded by photos.  I thought I was excited to upgrade my iPhone this Christmas, but it turns out I am even MORE excited about the case!

A few years ago my son gifted me with a photo case he designed through Shutterfly for my iPhone 4.  I was touched and loved that case so much! It was the perfect sentimental gift for me.  It was one of the things that held me back from upgrading my phone for so long.

So, when the surprise was blown that my family had ordered me a new phone (Thanks to an email notification!) I knew I had to try to replace my favorite case.  Let's try this Shutterfly thing...

I used the photo from this year's Christmas card and added it to a case with a velvety matte finish.  I opted not to add text, really wanting to showcase the photo.

People, it is gorgeous!!  The colors are perfect, every detail shows up from the original photo (look at the water reflections!! The bokeh!! Those FACES!!), and I've already dropped it twice with no cracks!

So, now I'm the weirdo at the red light looking at the BACK of my phone.  I even hold my phone differently when I'm talking so people can see just how gorgeous it is!  I know I ordered it from the company, but I'm just so darn proud of this dang phone case  I feel like I invented it!  Is that weird?  I mean, I did technically invent those cute boys in the photo so I'm claiming it as my own...

DIY Dog Coat You Probably Already Own!

I have spent hours shopping for, trying on, then returning dog coats in the last month!  Everything I found wouldn't fit around her deep chest.

With wind chills taking the temp to 10 below this week, I knew I had to come up with a solution for my short-haired pet. I spent a few hours this morning trying to adapt a few different things to fit her - a child's robe, an old sweatshirt...

Suddenly, while combing through our closets for old clothing to re-purpose into a dog coat, I noticed a vest I no longer wear.  I think I bought it at Target a few years ago on the clearance rack for a few bucks.  Women's size small slipped right on and zipped up as if it was made for her!

Gah!  I was over thinking the whole thing! Think of the options...

Men's sizes for huge dogs, baby sizes for toy dogs...Vests for all!

Sometimes, you just need to stop and look at what you already have and open your mind up to new uses for old things.

Stay warm!
